After working for Revenue Canada Taxation, Terry Robert recognized a need for small business accounting services that were not readily and economically available at that time. He opened his practice in 1983 and in May of 1984 under the name of R.T. Robert & Company moved to the present location of 712 St. Mary's Road. The aim was to provide a full range of accounting services for small businesses which could not afford or did not require full-time bookkeepers and accountants but needed professional advice in record-keeping, taxation and management to stay competitive.

The office's first computer (a unique "luggable" Hyperion) was purchased soon after and is currently on display in the office. By 1987, the office was on a network and was employing some of the latest technologies, comparable and in many cases ahead of some major firms. This philosophy continues today with the use of leading edge hardware and software to help us meet our clients' needs more efficiently. All this has been done with the objective of providing excellent service at reasonable prices.

Our philosophy has been that “We Help”, and to do this we try to respond to our clients’ needs and talents, adapting our services to allow our clients to use their resources as much as is possible and convenient for them. Our clientele, which are extremely varied, include professional firms, service industries, retail operations, construction companies, charities and not-for-profit organizations.

R. T. Robert Certified General Accountants Professional Corporation continues to expand, and in early 1999 opened a second office in Steinbach, Manitoba. Technology has also allowed the firm to service clients in several regions of the country and we now have clients in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario as well as Manitoba and clients living abroad with interests in Canada.
